StockerYale UK Subsidiary Awarded Laser Contract

StockerYale Inc. of Salem, N.H., a manufacturer of structured light lasers, LED modules and specialty optical fibers, announced yesterday that its UK subsidiary, Photonic Products Ltd. of Hertfordshire, England, was awarded a custom laser-assembly contract with an unnamed manufacturer of point-of-sale (POS) systems. Photonic Products will supply more than 100,000 laser assemblies for a next-generation bioptic POS bar-code scanner system. The company said the approximately $1 million contract is the largest single award in its history. Photonic Products began developing the custom lasers for the system in late 2006 and will ramp up production this quarter. To secure the contract, the company designed a customer laser assembly that could meet an accelerated production schedule, StockerYale said.
