Flir Gets $28.6M Order
Thermal imaging systems maker Flir Systems Inc. announced it has received a $28.6 million order from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its Star Safire III stabilized, airborne multisensor systems.
Flir said units delivered under the order, the company's largest international contract award, will be used for homeland security and "high-value asset protection missions." Its Star Safire III was chosen for its technical and environmental superiority in the harsh climate of the UAE, the company said. Work will be performed at Flir's Portland facilities, with deliveries beginning in 2008 and extending into 2009.
"This contract, representing an international expansion of our market opportunity for homeland security applications, strengthens our presence in the region," said Earl R. Lewis, president and CEO of Flir Systems.
