Tim McGarry Joins Maxion Technologies

Mid-infrared semiconductor laser maker Maxion Technologies Inc. announced the hiring of Tim McGarry as vice president, sales marketing, effective Sept. 4. McGarry most recently served as chief operating officer of MEC Technology, a New Jersey-based semiconductor assemblies manufacturer. Prior to MEC, he held senior positions in laser-based optical communications and laser manufacturing companies, including Coherent and Spectra Physics. Maxion also announced its recent move from Hyattsville, Md., to a new facility in College Park. The company said its new location provides additional space and facilities to support its growing needs for laser manufacturing space and infrastructure and will also allow it to leverage the optoelectronic capabilities at the nearby University of Maryland.
