HIGH-POWER FIBER
A one-page flier titled “Er:YAG Laser Delivery Fiber” from IRphotonics provides preliminary specifications on the high-power fiber, which is designed for delivering Er:YAG and Er,Cr:YSGG beams. It notes that the fiber, made of Zblan-based fluoride gas, offers transmission >85% for up to a 3-m cable at 2.7 to 2.9 μm, as well as flexibility, high damage thresholds, Fresnel losses of 4% per end face, and an operating wavelength range of 0.3 to 4.5 μm. Applications, including dentistry, dermatology and general surgery, are listed, and optical, power handling, and mechanical and geometrical specifications are provided.
