Flir Awarded $9M Contract
Thermal imaging and stabilized camera systems maker Flir Systems Inc. announced today that it has received a $9.3 million fixed-price contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Crane division, for AN/KAX-1A maritime forward-looking infrared systems.
The stabilized, lightweight, multisensor systems delivered under the contract will support the Long Range Ground Mobility Visual Augmentation Systems (LR-GMVAS) program and provide ground vehicles with an all-weather, day/night, high-resolution, stabilized, thermal imaging capability.
Flir, which is based in Wilsonville, said the work will be performed at its facilities in North Billerica, Mass; deliveries will begin in 2008 and continue into 2012.
"This contract, building on Flir's existing relationship with the special operations community, demonstrates the value of our systems for emerging, vehicle-based applications and furthers our strategy to equip ground-based forces," said Earl R. Lewis, president and CEO of Flir Systems.
