IPG Photonics Wins US Navy Contract
Expanding its presence in government applications, IPG Photonics Corp. of Oxford, Mass., has received a $3.8 million contract from the US Navy to supply a 44-kW fiber laser system to the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Va. Under the contract, the company will deliver eight commercial 5.5 kW fiber lasers from September to December. The company manufactures fiber lasers and amplifiers for diverse applications in markets such as communications, materials processing and scientific research.
