Matisse Appoints Ross Ireland as Director
Matisse Networks, a Mountain View, Calif., developer of packet optical transport systems that use optical burst switching, has added Ross K. Ireland to its board of directors. Ireland was formerly senior executive vice president of services and chief technology officer for SBC Communications (now AT&T). He retired from SBC in 2004 after 38 years of service. He was also previously chairman of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions, which oversees the T1 US Telecommunications Standards Group. He studied engineering at City College of San Francisco and is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program. Matisse Networks' EtherBurst optical switch is designed for carrier and enterprise metro Ethernet networks.
