Gooch & Housego Consolidates
Anne L. Fischer
Five players in the photonics industry are being brought together under the Gooch & Housego corporate brand. The launch combines Gooch & Housego UK of Ilminster, Cleveland Crystals Inc. in Ohio, Landwehr Electronic GmbH of Norderstedt, Germany, NEOS Technologies Inc. of Melbourne, Fla., and SIFAM Fibre Optics Ltd. of Torquay, UK, into one entity. Although these companies were all previously owned by Gooch & Housego, they had operated as separate entities. With this integration, they will share a global sales, marketing and management structure as well as technical skills. Gooch & Housego headquarters will remain in Ilminster, and each of the integrated companies will remain at its current location and will retain its name.
Gooch & Housego was established in 1948 and was involved in glass processing and crystalline materials industries. Now it manufactures custom optical components, with its main product being the Q-switch acousto-optical device.
