Mark Munch to Lead M&I at Veeco Instruments
Veeco Instruments Inc. of Woodbury, N.Y., has hired Mark R. Munch, PhD, as executive vice president and general manager, Metrology and Instrumentation (M&I). Munch joins Veeco from Coherent Inc., where he was senior vice president and general manager of the Commercial Lasers and Components Group, a maker of laser products for the medical, bioinstrumentation and materials processing markets. Previously, Munch was CEO and president of Cooligy Inc., later a subsidiary of Emerson Electric. Munch came to Cooligy from Corning Inc., where he was vice president and general manager for two optical components units and vice president and chief technology officer of Corning Photonic Technologies. Before that, Munch was general manager, vice president and CTO at Tyco Corp. He also spent 10 years at Raychem Corp. in various key management positions. Munch received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado and his MS and PhD degrees in chemical engineering from Stanford University.
