The International Imaging Industry Association has published the “CPIQ Initiative Phase 1 White Paper: Fundamentals and Review of Considered Test Methods,” which addresses camera phone image quality. Downloadable from the company Web site, the 82-page document discusses the goals of the Camera Phone Image Quality (CPIQ) initiative group, which is made up of key players in the industry. Published in October 2007, it presents objective measurements of camera phone performance, providing test examples of resolution, speed, exposure, color uniformity and camera flare. Subjective test metrics and methods also are discussed, including the subjective evaluation of color rendering. The group’s recommendations for camera phone metadata are included.
