New Technical Program to Highlight Aerosense

SPIE has announced that Aerosense '99 will take place in Orlando from April 5 to 9. The symposium this year offers a largely revised series of technical conferences for component and system designers of sensors and simulation in the military and aerospace.
In conjunction, its Thermosense conference will focus on the commercial applications of infrared thermography in the metal industry. Participants can choose from dozens of short courses on any of the topics presented at a range of levels from introductory to advanced. Many discussions will focus on spin-off and spin-on commercial activities. What's more, 150 companies from around the world will exhibit advanced photonics technology.
The Thermosense technical program alone will consist of more than 70 presentations, with some of the highlighted sessions covering nondestructive testing and materials evaluation, process and product monitoring, predictive maintenance, and research and development.

Photonics programs
Technical conferences will highlight critical technology and design in a field of vital topics. For the program on displays, avionics experts will present the latest in head-mounted and panel displays -- technology and design developments that may also be transferred to industry and medical applications.
The laser sensing program will include conferences on "Airborne Laser Advanced Technology" and "Laser Radar Technology and Applications." Tactical sensors will be the subject of another program covering "Infrared Technology and Applications," "Infrared Imaging Systems: Design, Analysis, Modeling and Testing," and "Passive Millimeter-Wave Imaging Technology."
Other programs will include guidance and navigation; modeling, simulation and visualization; battlefield technologies; signal and image processing; image exploitation and target recognition; and wavelets and neural networks. In these technical conferences, top engineers, scientists and researchers from around the world will present their wisdom and experience from work in industry, the military and the laboratory.
A banquet April 7 will bring together a panel of international researchers and industry experts to discuss the "Impact of Commercial Industry on Battlespace Digitization," which will address sensors, processing and communications systems.
