Survey Finds LEDs Gaining Popularity
A consumer survey commissioned by Arrow Electronics Inc. of Melville, N.Y., has found that consumers view LEDs as a positive alternative to traditional in-home lighting. The survey, conducted online within the US, found that 87 percent of those participating would be willing to try the technology for some or all of their home lighting needs, to be more energy-efficient. The cost savings that LEDs can deliver was a motivating factor to pay more for the bulbs for 82 percent, with participants willing to pay an average of $4.70 per LED bulb, compared with $0.50 for incandescent and $3 for compact fluorescent lamps.
