Sony and 3M Sign License Agreement

Sony Corp., based in Tokyo, and 3M, based in St. Paul, Minn., have signed a license agreement that grants the Japanese company the right to use certain 3M optical film technology in its prismatic films for liquid crystal display television products. The agreement is a result of the companies’ desire to work jointly to provide an overall solution for the liquid crystal display television panel market. The US company’s optical film technology is used to make electronic displays brighter and more energy-efficient in various lighting conditions by optimizing and recycling light.
