DoE Supports Superconductive Wire

In Columbus, Ohio, SCI Engineered Materials Inc., a manufacturer of ceramics and metals for photonic applications, has announced the award of a two-year contract from the US Department of Energy (DoE) for a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research project. The company’s goal is to increase the superconductivity of BSCCO-2212 round wire, which currently can perform successfully in magnetic fields higher than 25 T.
