Seoul Semiconductor defends lawsuit
LED manufacturer Seoul Semiconductor Co. Ltd. of Seoul, South Korea, has announced its plans to defend a lawsuit filed by Nichia Corp. of Detroit, claiming infringement of US patent 6,870,191. The Korean company believes that the lawsuit lacks merit and that the patent’s LED substrate is patterned with a protruded and recessed trapezoid, which is different from its own products. The two companies currently are engaged in 12 lawsuits throughout the world.
