Prima Delivers 3-D Laser Cutting System to Northern Manufacturing
Prima North America Inc., located in Chicopee, Mass., has delivered an Optimo 3-D laser cutting system to Northern Manufacturing Co. of Oak Harbor, Ohio. Optimo is Prima’s largest five-axis, 3-D laser cutting and welding system. Northern Manufacturing is a precision fabricator of custom sheet metal parts and assemblies for a broad range of industries, including automotive, farming, appliance and energy. Optimo includes the CV5000 laser resonator for exceptionally high cutting speeds, with the ability to process thicker materials and to produce superior cut quality with a reduced heat-affected zone, Prima said. Optimo's advancements include a direct-drive head requiring no gears or complex kinematics, removing any backlash or wear, and the focal position control function delivers uniform cutting quality and eliminates production setup changes when alternating material types and thicknesses. Optimo can be programmed offline with 3-D Cenit FasTRIM software.
