Samsung Names New CEO
Samsung Electronics America of Ridgefield Park, N.J., has announced the appointment of Chang-Soo Choi as president and chief executive officer, replacing Dong Jin Oh, who is retiring after a 35-year career with the company. Samsung also has announced two promotions in the Consumer Electronics Div. Tim Baxter will become president and Young Hoon Eom will become co-president, the latter replacing Jae-Soon Park. Over the past 30 years, Choi has served in a variety of leadership roles within Samsung’s Telecommunications, Information and Computer Systems divisions in Korea. Most recently, he served as executive vice president in the Mobile Communications Div. in Korea, with responsibility for leading international sales and marketing. In his new role, he will lead the North American operations, which include the Consumer Electronics and Information Technology divisions within Samsung Electronics America, Samsung Telecommunications America, Samsung Electronics Canada and Samsung Electronics Mexico. Choi is expected to assume his new role in February.
