Corning Increases Optics Holdings
With an eye toward capitalizing on the emerging market for specialty lenses,
Corning Inc. has acquired
Rochester Photonics Corp. in Rochester, N.Y. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Rochester Photonics specializes in diffractive optics and microlenses, components that are critical to telecommunications, optical data storage, optical computing, laser scanning and medical optics. The company will report to Corning subsidiary
U.S. Precision Lens Inc. in Cincinnati, which also manufactures specialty optics.
