Now Introducing...e-Death

In the latest craze to put everything online, many states offer electronic death certificate filing. For doctors that see a lot of DOAs, the e-death system might speed up the filing process, but it seems a bit tacky. I hope that whoever handles my death certificate takes the time to write it out.

Since everything is submitted electronically, states could save money by not hiring an employee to monitor the database--that is, until the thing breaks down and we hear about the disaster on the nightly news.

Although this electronic technology could help doctors save time, I have heard from at least one physician who complains that these certificates take more time to file than paper forms because there are only so many things that you can put in a pre-set electronic system.

Buried in paperwork? Better than e-death, in my opinion.
