LIA Announces 2009 Board
In Orlando, Fla., during its 2008 annual meeting and awards luncheon, the Laser Institute of America (LIA) announced its officers for 2009 and board of directors for 2009-2011. The meeting took place Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at the 27th International Congress on Applications of Lasers and Electro-Optics (ICALEO). The officers for 2009 are as follows: Rajesh Patel, Newport-Spectra Physics (president); Nathaniel Quick, AppliCote Assoc. (president-elect); Andreas Ostendorf, Ruhr-University Bochum (past president); Klaus Löffler, Trumpf Laser and Systems (secretary); and Stephen Capp, Laserage Technology (treasurer). LIA’s 2009-2011 board members are Milan Brandt, Swinburne University of Technology-IRIS; Ben Edwards, Duke University Medical Center; Bo Gu, IPG Photonics; Shaparak Kamarei, Solaris Laser Institute; Lin Li, University of Manchester; William O’Neill, University of Cambridge; Chuck Ratermann, RPMC Lasers; Koji Sugioka, Riken; Sri Venkat, Coherent; and Sheldon Zimmerman, Naval Surface Warfare Center.
