Hong Named Samsung CEO

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. of San Jose, Calif., has appointed Wan Hoon Hong as chief executive officer and president of Samsung Semiconductor Inc. He will be responsible for overseeing the company’s Memory, LCD, Storage and System LSI divisions within the Americas. Most recently, he was senior vice president of Memory Marketing at Samsung Electronics in Seoul, South Korea, where he was in charge of developing global marketing strategy for the memory division. He also has been responsible for managing strategic planning, sales and marketing activities at the Memory, LCD and System LSI divisions there and has served as president of Samsung Electronics Taiwan.
