Novaled and Holst to Collaborate
Novaled of Dresden, Germany, a provider of technology and materials for energy saving and long-living organic LEDs (OLEDs) for lighting and display products, and Holst Centre of Eindhoven, the Netherlands, a search-and-development center developing generic technologies for wireless autonomous transducer solutions and for systems in foil, will partner under a joint development agreement. Their goal is to investigate the feasibility and benefits of Novaled’s dopants in Holst Centre’s organic thin-film transistor technologies that are qualified for displays and circuits. Novaled’s doping technology contributes to high power efficiencies and long lifetimes in OLEDs by improving charge carrier injection and transport in the organic layers. The company has shown that these effects also are relevant for organic TFT because the carrier injection from the drain and source into the organic material has a major influence on the device performance. Novaled develops dopant and host materials that can be processed both in vacuum and in solution.
