High-Resolution Imaging Satellite Set for Launch

DENVER, Colo., April 13 -- Space Imaging says that the launch of the IKONOS 1 satellite, the world's first commercial one-meter resolution Earth imaging satellite, has been scheduled for April 27, 1999, at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
IKONOS will be able to produce imagery for use in a variety of market applications, including environmental monitoring, mapping, urban planning, natural disaster assessment, oil and gas exploration, telecommunications network planning, and agricultural monitoring.
