Flir Receives $4M Order
Flir Systems Inc., a manufacturer of thermal imaging and stabilized camera systems, announced that it has received a $4.1 million order from Northrop Grumman for its Brite Star II multisensor target designation system.
The units will be installed on Northrop Grumman’s MQ-8B Fire Scout vertical take-off and landing Tactical unmanned aerial vehicle. The Fire Scout provides intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to tactical users without relying on manned aircraft or space-based systems.
Work will be performed at Flir’s facilities in Wilsonville; deliveries are expected to begin this year and conclude in 2010.
“This order highlights Flir’s position as a leading supplier of thermal imaging and target designation systems,” said Earl R. Lewis, president and CEO of Flir Systems. “We are pleased to partner with Northrop Grumman on Fire Scout to provide situational awareness and real-time intelligence for the commander’s missions.”
