Sanders Delivers Fiber Optic Decoys for Flight Tests
NASHUA, NH, April 23 -- Sanders, an operating company of Lockheed Martin's Electronics Sector, has delivered to the US Armed Forces the first six operational fiber optic towed decoys developed under the engineering and manufacturing development phase of the Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures (IDECM) Radio Frequency Countermeasures (RFCM) program. The decoys will be used during flight testing in May.
The IDECM RFCM suite is a next-generation, state-of-the-art electronic warfare system incorporating avionics designed and manufactured by ITT Avionics and other suppliers, and off-board countermeasures such as the decoys developed by Sanders. The combination of highly sensitive receivers and off-board countermeasures is designed to provide a highly effective defense for US tactical aircraft against current and future missile threats. The F/A-18E/F will be the first military aircraft to receive the IDECM RFCM system.
