Intraoperative imaging

To help surgeons clearly differentiate tissue types, Trumpf GmbH + Co. KG has enhanced its iLED LED-based lamp for use in operating rooms with the integration of the ContrastLine technology. In the procedure, tissue marked with an injected liquid is stimulated to illuminate with narrow-band light consisting of colored LEDs. The fluorescent effect is achieved without the use of UV or radioactive radiation. The iLED light is switched to ContrastLine mode to obtain the light that highlights the marked tissue. To strengthen the effect, the tissue can be observed on a monitor through a camera integrated into the light and fitted with a special color filter.
