Michelson Hires Imaging Scientist

Orpington, England-based optical coherence tomography (OCT) equipment maker Michelson Diagnostics Ltd. (MDL) announced the appointment of Dr. Florian Bazant-Hegemark as senior imaging scientist. Bazant-Hegemark has been working on OCT in the biophotonics research group at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and in 2007 co-authored a landmark article in BiophotonicsInternational. In his new position, Bazant-Hegemark will work closely with customers to help them capture and analyze data from MDL’s multibeam OCT scanners to solve clinical and scientific challenges such as skin cancer diagnosis, blood flow imaging and in vivo imaging of fruitfly hearts for genetics research. To obtain his PhD, he studied OCT for the management of cervical precancer. He also has an MSc in medical diagnostics from Cranfield University and a Dipl-Ing (equivalent to BSc+MEng) in food science and biotechnology from the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna.
