Lucid Inc. of Rochester, N.Y., has received FDA 501(k) clearance to market its VivaScope reflective confocal microscope system in the US. The system, when used in conjunction with the company’s telemedicine network, enables medical images of skin to be acquired, stored, retrieved, displayed and transferred in near-real time. The device is expected to be available in 2009.
