Microfluidic biochips

The 228-page book Digital Microfluidic Biochips: Synthesis, Testing and Reconfiguration Techniques considers the automated design and production of the biochips for large-scale bioassays and applications where safety is critical. Designed to help achieve the integration of microfluidic components into the next generation of system-on-chip and system-in-package designs, the text applies classical very large scale integration synthesis techniques to the biochips, and it integrates operation scheduling, resource binding, droplet routing and module placement in one synthesis procedure. Test planning, defect-oriented testing and diagnosis are discussed, and two defect tolerance schemes — one based on space redundancy and the other on graceful degradation — are analyzed. Design automation tools are evaluated using a set of real-life bioassays. Krishnendu Chakrabarty and Fei Su; !%CRC Press/Taylor & Francis Group%!, Boca Raton, Fla., 2007; $129.95.
