Laser safety standards
!%The Laser Institute of America (LIA)%! has released a revised edition of the American National Standard for Safe Use of Lasers (ANSI Z136.1). New guidelines have been incorporated into the 2007 edition as a result of advances in laser devices and applications. Suitable for users of Class 3B and 4 lasers and other devices, the revision renders all the previous editions obsolete (1986, 1993, 2000). ANSI Z136.1 (2007) includes new laser hazard classification definitions, new requirements for refresher training and changes to medical surveillance requirements. LIA is the publisher and secretariat of the American National Standards Institute Z136 series of laser safety standards for industrial, medical, military and educational applications nationwide. Available in print or electronically, the publication costs $155 for LIA members and $175 for nonmembers.
