Sandia Appoints New VP

Carolyne Hart has been selected as vice president of weapons engineering and product realization, Sandia National Laboratories Director Tom Hunter announced Thursday. Hart has been a member of Sandia's Defense Systems and Assessments Program director team, and most recently served as the director of Sandia's Electronic Systems Center. She joined the Albuquerque, N.M.-based lab in 1978, and much of her career at Sandia has been devoted to work connected with the reliability, safety and security of the nuclear weapons stockpile. Hart earned a BA in mathematics and biological sciences at Howard Payne University, and holds an MS and PhD in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University. She is an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico. Hart’s appointment comes on the heels of leadership changes announced by Hunter in April: Sandia VP Steve Rottler was appointed vice president of Science & Technology and Research Foundations and VP Rick Stulen was appointed vice president of Sandia’s California laboratory in Livermore, Calif. Each of these changes became effective July 10.
