Veeco Sets Up Solar Center

Veeco Instruments Inc., a manufacturer of products for customers in the high-brightness LED, solar, data storage, semiconductor, scientific research and industrial markets, announced that it is establishing a solar process development center. According to the Plainview, N.Y.-based company, it bought certain assets of DayStar Technologies Inc. to accelerate its penetration of the rapidly growing copper, indium, gallium, selenium (CIGS) solar market. Veeco, which purchased selected equipment, has taken over leased facilities and hired DayStar’s R&D group in Clifton Park, N.Y.
