Corning Acquires BICC Cable Businesses
CORNING, NY, May 4 -- Corning has completed the acquisition of BICC's telecommunications cable businesses. The new acquisition, called Corning Cables, will produce optical and metallic telecommunication cables and provide network installation services from facilities throughout Europe and Australasia.
Commenting on the purchase, Wendell Weeks, Corning's vice president of Opto-Electronics, said, With this addition to our portfolio of fiber, cable and photonics businesses, Corning is now well positioned to capitalize on the robust growth we see developing in the worldwide telecommunications marketplace, particularly in Europe.
