Newport Gets Order for Motion Stage Systems

IRVINE, Calif., May 11 -- Newport Corp. has received orders totaling $1.4 million from a European machine tool manufacturer of automotive production application systems. The three-dimensional motion stages, to be delivered in 1999, will be used in equipment for rapid production of precision automotive parts. This order is indicative of the success Newport has achieved in expanding its operations in the European industrial marketplace, said Alain Danielo, vice president and general manager of Newport's Europe Operation.
