Sourcing Optoelectronic Components From China

Friends, I have been slightly delayed largely because of two hiccups ... One, my notebook died on me, and I had to get a new one — my efforts at retrieving data is still on; and two — Google found malware on my blog last week, and since then, I haven't rested well! Never mind, life goes on!

This time around, I'd like to apprise my readers of places to source optoelectronic components, as well as photonics-related components from China. Now, the first show that comes to my mind is the Hong Kong Electronics Show. However, I'd like to touch upon the China Sourcing Fair, held at the sprawling AsiaWorld Expo in Hong Kong — a show where yours truly judged the new products gallery for two legs running — spring and fall shows of 2006!

Typically, buyers would be looking for products such as fiber-optic amplifiers/attenuators/filters, fiber-optic receivers/transmitters/transceivers, high-power LEDs, infrared LEDs, LCD backlights, LED indicators, LED lights/cluster lamps, LED modules, LED strips, LEDs, white LEDs, SMD LEDs, CCFLs, laser diodes, laser modules, optical switches, optocouplers, photodiodes, photoresistors, phototransistors, etc. Incidentally, most of these are the very same categories, I had discussed for coverage with Photonics.com.

As an example, Shenzhen, China-based China Light-Valley Technology Co. Ltd. is a verified supplier of several of these products, especially high-power LEDs, LED grow lights, LED spotlight bulbs, LED strips, etc.
,br>This supplier claims to have designed and developed OEM/ODM electronics products for many customers. Its monthly production capacity is 60,000 m for LED strips, 90,000 m for LED neons and 1 million units for high-power LEDs.

For instance, its YSRGB7A5BW25 LED with 100° viewing angle can be used in lighting for background, auto bulb and display. The LED dimension is 2.5 × 7.6 × 7.6 mm, and the super flux diameter is 5 mm. The luminous intensity: 1,500 to 3,500 mcd.

Another good supplier seems to be Power Opto, a leading Taiwanese LED manufacturer. Its product range includes a high-power multichip LED series, which has super-high lumen output with no image stacking and no UV and IR emission.

With up to 15 years of experience, the company's R&D staff members are quite experienced in handling complex OEM/ODM requests. Boasting a monthly capacity of 10 million units, it can manage large-volume orders quite well.

As an example, it offers SMD LEDs such as TT6720AFCN-006 top-view full-color RGB PLCC SMD LED with 120° wide viewing angle, and also the PO-TS3020WFN-021 top view white chip PLCC SMD LED with 80-mW power consumption.

More in my next post!
