Qioptiq Appoints CEO, Rebrands

Qioptiq, a global manufacturer of photonic products and solutions, announced a number of changes at this year’s SPIE Photonics West, including the appointment of a new CEO, Fredrik Arp, effective Jan. 8, 2010. Arp takes the helm of Qioptiq after having spent 20 years in senior executive positions at several companies. Most recently, he was CEO of Volvo Car Corp., from 2005 to 2008.

Qioptiq also announced the rebranding of its subsidiaries. According to the company, Qioptiq’s 2300 employees across North America, Europe and Asia now will be working even more closely together, under one single name and brand. During 2010, the new visual identity will be progressively rolled out in all of the group’s business units.

LINOS (acquired by Qioptiq in 2007) and Point Source (acquired by Qioptiq in 2008), which currently are operating under their own names and logos, will be changing their names and logos to conform to the new Qioptiq brand.

Brochures and leaflets will be changed into the new look over the course of the year. Qioptiq’s now-separate Web sites, including those of LINOS and Point Source, will become one global Web site via a major overhaul.
