Merck KGaA, Applied Materials Inc. and Braunschweig University of Technology (TU-BS) have announced that they have received a grant from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research to develop processes to reduce the cost of manufacturing organic LED (OLED) lighting. The three-year project, called Light InLine (LILi), is being led by Applied Materials, which will join forces with Merck, a manufacturer of OLED materials, and TU-BS, a center for OLED research. The project is centered at the advanced development facility in Alzenau, Germany.
