Tessera CTO Honored on Postage Stamp

China’s government has named Robert Yung, executive vice president and chief technology officer at Tessera Technologies Inc., as one of its Top 60 World Chinese. As part of this honor, Yung will appear on a special-edition Chinese postal stamp designed and circulated by the People’s Republic of China’s Postal Ministry.

The Top 60 World Chinese award celebrates China’s 60th anniversary, honoring Chinese around the world who have made substantial contributions in their field and advanced China’s cultural and economic growth.

Yung is a leading advocate for Chinese-American relations, and was named to the National Committee of US-China Relations Fellows during the inaugural Young Leader Forum in 2002. In 2000, he was also named to the World Economic Forum's ‘Top 100 Global Leaders for Tomorrow’ in Davos, Switzerland.

At Tessera, Yung is responsible for the company’s vision for innovation of miniaturization technologies for wireless, consumer and computing electronic devices.

He earned his BA, MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from UC Berkeley. He is a named inventor on more than 70 issued patents and more than 20 pending patent applications.

“We are very pleased that the Chinese government has recognized Robert with this prestigious honor,” said Henry R. “Hank” Nothhaft, president, chief executive officer and chairman, Tessera. “An important part of Tessera’s tradition of innovation can be seen in team members such as our CTO, through his inventiveness and leadership.”
