Polatis, JDSU Expand Agreement

Polatis Inc., a supplier of all-optical switch technology, has expanded its distributorship agreement with JDSU, based in Milpitas, Calif.

Under the existing agreement, JDSU integrates Polatis products as part of its portfolio of test solutions for the laboratory and production markets. With the expanded agreement, it will integrate the products with its solutions for the fiber-to-the-home monitoring and system integration and test labs markets, as well as for government, aerospace and defense markets.

“Test automation and connectivity further reduce costs and Polatis optical switches enable JDSU customers to implement our wide-ranging physical layer testers in a more cost-effective way,” said Gerald Wesel, CEO at Polatis. “The demand for optical switching as an important element for both current and future applications, as a standalone solution or integrated into equipment manufacturers’ products, continues to rapidly grow. Working with JDSU helps us address that demand.”

One of the initial successes of the expanded agreement is the shipment and integration of Polatis’ optical switch module into a telecommunications equipment platform, through a large telecom systems integrator. The module is a 96 x 96 component-level product that enables telecommunications equipment manufacturers to integrate Polatis’ optical switching into their existing platforms.
