QED Names New President

QED Technologies Inc. announced the appointment of Dr. Andrew Kulawiec as its new president.

The appointment comes after a period of transition at QED following the decision of its founder, Don Golini, to leave the business by June 2010. Golini’s announcement was made in January.

Joining QED in May 2008, Kulawiec led its metrology business and optical engineering department, where he was instrumental in the technical development, commercialization and marketing launch of the aspheric stitching interferometer (ASI) product, which was introduced in 2009.

Prior to joining the company, he served as vice president of operations at Semrock Inc., an optical filters manufacturer. He also spent 12 years between Corning Inc. and Corning Tropel Corp., where he held technical roles as well as management positions in metrology development and operations.
