New Group Combines Alcatel's Optical Activities
PARIS, France, July 13 -- Alcatel is creating Alcatel Optics, a new organization that will combine the company's operations in land and submarine transmission networking, optoelectronic components, and related research and development. The new group will report to Alcatel's Internet and Optics segment, headed by Krish Prabhu. Christian Reinaudo, president of Alcatel's submarine networks division, will assume the same role at Alcatel Optics.
Reinaudo, who holds a degree in physics and chemistry and a doctorate from Paris University, has been with Alcatel his entire career. He joined the company's research center in 1978, and went on to hold various technical, industrial and managerial positions in different Alcatel subsidiaries, including Alcatel Optical Fiber and Alcatel Cable. Since 1997 Reinaudo has been president of Alcatel's submarine networks division and CEO of Alcatel Submarine Networks.
