Photon counting
The PCEdu-1 photon Counting Fundamentals package
is an entry-level lecture and laboratory tutorial on low-light sensing or semiconductor
device physics and is suitable for OEM or academic environments. Available from
!%SensL Technologies Ltd.%!, the module contains tools and documentation that will
take users from the basic theory of photon counting and photodetection to application
examples. Lecture notes in a series of six modules cover topics such as quenching
fundamentals, and photodiode operation and characterization, in preparation for
five laboratory sessions that will enable trainees to gain experience with related
devices. A miniature photon counter, a passive quench circuit, a calibrateed reference
detector, filters and optical attenuators, and other items are provided for performing
the experiments.
