Flir Awarded $8.6M Navy Contract
Flir Systems Inc. will receive an $8,624,000 firm-fixed-price contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center of Crane, Ind., for non-warranty repairs and spares for the maritime forward-looking infrared radar (MARFLIR), high-power microscopic field (HPMF) and MicroStar systems.
The three systems provide maritime crafts, ground vehicles and unmanned aircraft with all-weather, day and night, high-resolution, stabilized, forward-looking infrared thermal imaging capabilities that augment existing optical and radar sensors by imaging enemy forces on land, at sea and in the air during periods of darkness and poor visibility. The systems can enhance the detection, recognition, identification and tracking of targets.
Expected to be completed by August 2015, the work will be completed at the North Billerica facility.
The contract was not competitively procured.
Flir Systems designs, manufactures and markets thermal imaging and stabilized camera systems for commercial, industrial and government markets.
