The University of Tampere in Finland
and Information Society Technologies, based in Brussels, Belgium, have initiated
a project, Communication by Gaze Interaction (Cogain), to make eye-tracking technology
more affordable for customers within the next five years. Researchers intend to
use a Web cam and ambient light to replace the more expensive camera and light source.
Eye-tracking technology allows people without the ability to communicate in other
ways to type via eye movements.
