eMagin Awarded Night Vision Subcontract

OLED microdisplay and virtual imaging technologies provider eMagin Corp. announced it will receive a subcontract from ITT Corp. for supply of display beam combiner assemblies (DBCA), including its OLED-XL microdisplays.

The US Army awarded a contract to ITT’s Night Vision & Imaging business units for their spiral enhanced night vision goggles (SENVG). With a firm-fixed-price contract potential value of $260.7 million, eMagin’s subcontract could have the potential value of up to $15.2 million.

Including eMagin’s DBCA, the SENVG incorporates an 18-mm intensifier tube that utilizes several ENVG subassemblies. It is powered by 3 AA batteries, and, through various system enhancements, it has a digital upgrade capability that will allow the goggle to export fused imagery for transmission via battlefield networks.

“This is an important award for eMagin as it proves that the US Army is ready to qualify the low power, high contrast and wide temperature operation advantages of our active matrix OLED technology for the ENVG program,” said Andrew Sculley, president and CEO at eMagin. “We are pleased to be able to help reduce the power requirements for the SENVG with low-power OLED microdisplays.”
