Foss Acquires Majority Stake in Ibsen

Foss A/S has become the main shareholder in Ibsen Photonics A/S through the purchase of an additional 73 percent of shares from existing shareholders, the companies announced today. Foss now owns about 85 percent of Ibsen, and the investment reflects a growing partnership over the past few years between the two companies.

Privately owned Ibsen is based in Farum and makes holographic, fused silica transmission gratings and spectrometer modules for telecom, analytical, sensing and laser applications. Family-owned Foss uses Ibsen products in its analytical instruments and, by becoming the main shareholder, secures the continued supply of high-quality spectrometers, the Hillerød-based company said.

"We have worked with Ibsen for some years now and have found their spectrometer solutions to be second to none," said Kim Vejlby Hansen, executive vice president of innovation and quality at Foss and Ibsen chairman. "We are confident that Ibsen has the necessary backing to grow the business and be a profitable investment for Foss."

“With the backing of the Foss group, we have the muscle to further develop all our businesses — gratings, interrogation monitors and spectrometers — to support all our customers worldwide with our usual dedication," said Torben Jacobsen, Ibsen president and CEO.
