Hybrid Photodiodes
Electro-optic manufacturer !%Photonis USA%! has announced
that it will provide hybrid photodiodes and their power supply units to the Cosmic
Ray Energetics and Mass experiment. Conducted by the Cosmic Ray Physics Group from
the University of Maryland in College Park, the experiment involves a series of
long-duration balloon flights that provide exposure to and measurement of cosmic
ray energies to understand their origins. The photodiodes will be used on a calorimeter
readout system to measure the energies of ionized cosmic particles.
