Biolase Names Pignatelli Executive Chairman

Biolase Technology Inc., announced the appointment of Federico Pignatelli as its executive chairman, effective Aug. 24, 2010.

Pignatelli will take over for David M. Mulder, who resigned as chairman, CEO and president to pursue other opportunities. Over the past 16 years, Pignatelli has served as chairman of the board, interim CEO and president.

With an entirely new board, he announced his excitement to return as chairman after almost five years.

“It is a natural time to transition the chairmanship role at Biolase,” said Mulder. “We have spent the past two years keeping the company viable and weathering a very rough economy, while laying the groundwork for a completely new commercial strategy.”

The dental laser company develops, manufactures and markets lasers and related products focused on technologies that advance the practice of dentistry and medicine.
