Agilent Teaching Solutions on Curriculum in Malaysia
Agilent Technologies Inc. announced its recent agreement with the Multimedia Development Corp. (MDeC) Malaysia to provide curriculum-based teaching solutions focused on electronic test and measurement specially designed for Malaysia’s institutions of higher learning in science and technology.
With 20 Malaysian universities in agreement to purchase the company’s teaching solutions, Agilent’s teaching solutions are comprised of carefully designed undergraduate engineering coursework, including topic-specific slide sets for instructors, problem-based student labs and industry-standard measurement equipment.
“MDeC realized that proactive steps must be taken to meet the demand for the estimated 10,000 knowledge-worker job opportunities available later in 2010,” said Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, CEO of MDeC. “To produce a generation of skilled knowledge workers, educators at institutions of higher learning and industry trainers must also enhance their knowledge, experience and be attuned to the latest technological developments in information and communication technology.”
In addition to providing the curriculum coursework, Agilent will deliver its train-the-trainer program each year to MDeC. Designed to ensure educators are prepared to teach and train the approximately 3,000 engineering students who graduate each year from local universities, the program will ensure that graduates will be acquainted with various stages of the product design and development in the electronic industry, and equipped with textbook and hands-on knowledge.
MDeC is a key driver of Malaysia’s Multimedia Super Corridor national information and communication technology initiative.
Agilent Technologies is a measurement company that addresses the fields of chemical analysis, life sciences, electronics and communications.
