Emcore Hires CFO

Emcore Corp. announced yesterday that the board of directors appointed Mark Weinswig as its chief financial officer, effective Oct. 11, 2010, when he started at the company.

Weinswig will be responsible for the company’s finance and accounting functions. He will report to the CEO.

Before joining the company, he held various leadership positions as controller, executive vice president of business development and as interim CFO with technology companies, including Coherent Inc. and Avanex Corp. (now Oclaro Inc.).

In addition, he has worked at Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Equity Research Group, where he covered the telecommunications equipment industry, and also at PriceWaterhouseCoopers as an auditor.

Emcore provides compound semiconductor-based components and subsystems for the fiber optic and solar power markets.
